The existing casement windows are located in the east facing wall of the 1st floor kitchen. The kitchen is currently being renovated under Boston Inspectional Services Department Permit Number SF371622. The proposed work will proceed as follows: 1. Replace 2 existing Andersen single pane wood casement windows with 2 new construction Harvey Majesty casement windows. The Harvey Majesty windows will be made to fit the existing rough opening. The exterior nailing flange will be sealed with Harvey peal and stick rubber as per the Harvey window installation instructions. The existing vinyl siding will be re-installed. 2. Apply non-expanding foam insulation between the existing rough opening and the new casement windows. 3. Insulate the wall cavities around the two new casement windows with ROXUL rock wool insulation (R-13). 4. Cover the ROXUL rock wool insulation with a 4 mil polyethylene vapor barrier stapled to the existing studs. Tape seams as required. 5. Replace the existing Plaster Board (Blue Board) with 1 layer of ½" Homasote 440 Sound Board under 1 layer of ½" Plaster Board. Apply skin coat of plaster to the new blue board to match existing kitchen walls. The existing wall board was installed over the old lathes the Homasote and blue board combination will be the same thickness as the old wall.
