# New building permit BLDCN17-0028 at 1001 E Alexander Ave, Tacoma

Tacoma Planning and Development Services permit BLDCN17-0028: issued Jun 26, 2017 for new building work at 1001 E Alexander Ave. Package tnk-02 presents an overview of all design methodology, drawings, calculations, specifications, and other pertinent documents submitted to the city of tacoma for obtaining the required building permit for the liquefied natural gas (lng) storage tank upper slab foundation and isolator plinths in the tacoma lng facility for puget sound energy (pse). The 8,000,000 gal net capacity lng tank includes storage and secondary containment of lng in the form of a double wall concrete and steel tank. The tank is supported by an elevated reinforced upper concrete slab, friction pendulum seismic isolators, and a reinforced concrete base slab. A separate package for the base concrete slab was previously submitted (bldcn17-0012). An independent design review of the seismic analysis methodology was conducted and is included in this package. The upper slab is designed to transfer the loads from the tank to the seismic isolator pedestals. The upper slab accommodates a minimum 4 layers of reinforcing steel. Slab construction may be completed in sections to limit shrinkage stress. The upper slab is 149-0 in diameter and has a constant thickness of 3-6.
