Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland (MOWCM) is one of the largest and oldest continuously operating, non-profit, home-delivered meal programs in the United States with a mission to enable people to live independently at home through the provision of nutritious meals, personal contact and related services. Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland has outgrown their current 16,000 SF building in East Baltimore. To continue to serve the mission, a new expanded facility will be constructed in West Baltimore that will serve as the new headquarters for Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland. The project site is located at 701 Swann Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21229, at rear parcels behind the Edmondson Village Shopping Center that exist as an abandoned parking lot. The new home for Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland celebrates and communicates its mission through purpose-driven design that optimizes organizational and food production functionality. The project will consist of: SCOPE OF WORK: ---- NEW CONSTRUCTION ------ - site demolition, site development, and a new construction building; the building is centrally located on the site and consists of approximately - 41,000 GSF of office and - food service facilities with an approximately - 3,000 GSF exterior covered van loading dock at the East and North sides of the building, and - three solar canopies in the east parking area.
