Fence, wall or deck at 60 Winthrop St, Boston
Boston Inspectional Services Department permit SF494518: issued Jul 17, 2015 for fence, wall or deck work at 60 Winthrop St. There is an existing fence at the rear of the property that was constructed in 2012 by the developer without a permit. This work was done prior to our purchase of the property. We are now applying for a permit for the fence. We are happy with the current design, but recognize it covers a "right of way". Our permit application and proposal includes a modification that will not interfere with the "right of way" our neighbor at 12 Monument Court has over the property. Specifically, the proposed fence design would remove two sections of fence and replace with a small section of fence along the street and a gate. This would provide privacy from the street, yet keep open the area designated as a "right of way". It also keeps clear the easement area in the alley and alongside 12 Monument Court. We have included plans for current and proposed design. We have also included photos of the original chain link fence (photo from 2011), which was in place prior to the new fence going up, and our modification more closely matches that design, although offers an improvement in terms of durability and appearance. This proposal is in response to a violation notice we received and attempts to respond to that letter, the "right of way" issue, and at the same time minimize any unnecessary construction or demolition on the property.

Type of work and status are our own standard labels, so permits compare across cities. The city's wording is in the "City's category" and "City's status" rows. We show costs under $100 as not listed, because filers often enter $0 or $1 when the city doesn't require a cost.
