The letter should certify that the installed roof membrane assembly meets all applicable building codes and safety standards, including wind speed verifications, based on an engineering review of the installation. All roof covering materials shall be listed as Class A as tested in accordance with UL Standard 790 or ASTM Standard E 108. At inspection, provide to building inspection staff original wrappers of materials used or applied. Provide additional information -- such as manufacturer's cut sheet for other products used - including, but not limited to, items such as flashing, valley material, sealants, fasteners, ventilation devices or features and roof jacks & penetration boots. Attention: Wind speed requirements for Flat Membrane Roof Assemblies ? To ensure the safety and structural integrity of buildings within the City of Boulder, the following wind speed verifications are needed for all flat roof membrane assemblies: ? 1.? Engineered Design: A comprehensive engineered design for the flat membrane roof assembly must be submitted at the time of permit application. This design should detail all aspects of the assembly, including materials, installation methods, and load calculations, and number and layout of fasteners to achieve wind speed requirements. ? 2.? Alternative Option: Engineer?s Letter: As an alternative to submitting the full engineered design at the time of permit application, a stamped and signed letter from a qualified engineer will be accepted. This letter must be provided at the time of the mid-roof inspection. The letter should certify that the installed roof membrane assembly meets all applicable building codes and safety standards, based on an engineering review of the installation. Mid-roof inspection still needed to verify class A Fire Rated Assembly.
