The Arizona Department of Education has awarded the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) with funding for the development of a foster youth transitional housing project as part of the 2022 House Bill 2862. The EVIT Main Campus Housing Project will be an 8-unit apartment building to house 64 residences on their main campus located at 1601 W. Main St., Mesa, AZ 85021. The intended site is located along Main Street at the northeast corner of the campus on approximately 0.94 acres. On-site improvements include a 24-hour security building, outdoor lawn areas, site lighting, hardscape and landscape, new fire hydrant, and adding curbs to an existing fire lane. Residences will utilize the main campus existing parking. No work is intended in the ROW facing Main Street. Connecting to water, fire, and sewer lines within the existing 20ft PUFE in the road directly to the west of the site (requires Civil Plan Review and Permits). The project is planned for one construction phase. The main residential apartment building will be a two-story wood-framed building of Group R-2, Type VB construction, with NFPA 13 fire sprinklers. Deferred building fire alarm. Deferred fire sprinklers. New 2-inch domestic water meter.
