This is phase 1 which includes the 2 historic spaces on the first floor. The gold room and the dolly madison parlor. Work includes structural reinforcement below the fireplaces in both rooms, revising paint and decorative finishes, repairing and replacing wood floors, replacing historic light sconces in kind in gold room, aligning historic doors, repair of handrail in dolly madison parlor. Construction shall comply with the international building code 2015 (as modified by the 2017 district of columbia dcmr-12a building code). The work will follow the secretary of the interior S standards for the treatment of historic properties, particularly preservation and restoration of materials. The team will follow the guidelines of the national park service preservation briefs as they relate to the project's historic features.
