DC Department of Buildings permit SB2400052: issued Jan 11, 2024 for alteration or repair work at 1901 D St SE. We propose drilling three (3), nine-inch diameter monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3) using the hollow stem auger method to evaluate the subsurface conditions. The proposed well depths will range from approximately 40 to 60 feet below the existing ground surface elevation. If a confining unit is encountered, outer casing will be installed which will extend 10 feet into the top of the confining unit or to the top of bedrock. Wells will be installed with 2-inch screened PVC to approximately 10FT below existing ground surface elevations and 10FT of PVC riser. Wells will be packed with sand and gravel to the bottom of the riser and bentonite grout slurry to the existing ground surface elevation. Wells will be installed with a flush-mount cover and will be utilized for groundwater elevation monitoring for approximately 6 months. Drilling spoils, including soils and water from the test borings will be containerized in 55-gallon drums to be removed for disposal after chemical laboratory results of the spoils have been received and reviewed. Spoils will be disposed of in accordance with Federal and District laws and regulations.
